Teenage Pottery

10 Weeks of Pottery Sessions

New for 2025! These sessions are the perfect opportunity for your teenager to get a taste of ceramics, from pinching your first mug to glazing a thrown vessel.

Our Thursday after-school sessions will guide your child through the key steps to creating their own pieces.

Whether they are a complete beginner or have some experience, we will be covering different making techniques in each session. Up to 10 teens, for ages 11 - 16.

Course breakdown:

Session 1 - learn how to wedge clay + pinching and coiling techniques

Session 2 - learn the slab building technique

Session 3 - learn the basics of throwing on a potter’s wheel

Session 4 - learn to trim your thrown pots

Session 5 - surface decoration and glazing

Session 6, 7, 8, 9 + 10 - practise your skills!

These sessions allow each student to keep 4 items. If you want to keep more, there will be a charge of £5 per extra item. This is to cover clay, firings and us glazing your pieces for you. We encourage students to be critical and only keep what they know they will use, if you keep practising you’ll make better pieces! We ‘re also trying to be as environmentally friendly as possible and clay can only be recycled before its been fired.
